LALSIS

Latin American and Latinx Studies Internal Speaker Series 2020-21

The Latin American and Latinx Studies Internal Speaker (LALSIS) Series is an interdisciplinary forum for the presentation and discussion of  work in-progress research about Latin America or Latinxs conducted by the faculty and advanced graduate students of the University of Pennsylvania. The (LALSIS) Series has four main objectives. First, presenters receive constructive feedback on their on-going research from colleagues in their discipline and other fields. Second, the members of the Penn community learn about and from the eminent scholarship of colleagues and students on campus. Third, the interactions taking place in LALSIS solidify an interdisciplinary community with interests in Latin America and Latinxs at Penn. Fourth, such interactions facilitate future collaborations in teaching and research.

We hope that our interactions in LALSIS may lead to future collaborations in teaching or research, or simply to the solidification of an interdisciplinary community with interest in Latin America and Latin@s.

The series regularly meets on the first Tuesday of the month, from noon to 1:30pm. at ASAM/LALS Conference Room 473 McNeil Building.

*The Fall 2020 presentations will be virtual, and we will adhere to university guidelines for group gatherings in the spring as they unfold.
