PhD Candidate Comparative Literature & Literary Theory University of Pennsylvania

María Pape is a PhD candidate in Comparative Literature & Literary Theory. Her research focuses on the intersection of class, gender, and political identity in the cultural production from Latin America. More specifically, her dissertation explores the relationship between experimental esthetics and the sociopolitical reconfiguration at the beginning of 20th century in Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil with regard to the first full-blown populisms. Her work has been published in Revista Chilena de Literatura and Exlibris, and is forthcoming in Chasqui. Furthermore, she is a member of the editorial board of 452ºF. Revista de Teoría de la Literatura y Literatura Comparada, Universitat de Barcelona.
